Alaska Brown Bears & Glacier Expedition

  • Katmai National Park is the largest brown bear sanctuary in the world
  • During the annual salmon migration, watch brown bears fishing at Brooks Falls
  • 4 full days watching and photographing brown bears at different bear viewing spots
  • Prince William Sound special boat trip to photograph wildlife and glaciers 

COST & DETAILS

Group size: 4 to 6 people, $10,200 USD per person

  • Starting from Seattle
  • Price based on double occupancy, 
  • Room allocation: Seattle and Anchorage hotels are for two people per room, King Salmon cabins are for 2 to 4 people per Unit.
  • If there are only three people, each person will be charged an additional $950 USD
  • Prices may be slightly adjusted due to various factors, including itinerary changes, hotel accommodation and room allocation, etc.

 

Deposit: $4,500 USD 

Single Supplement: $1,540 USD


Price include:

  • All economy class flights starting from Seattle
  • All accommodation including Seattle, Anchorage and King Salmon
  • All meals
  • All listed activities in the complete itinerary
  • Professional photography guide all time

Price not include:

  • Alcoholic drinks, non-meal time drinks or snacks
  • Gratuities for tour guide (not required but recommended $20-25USD per day)

  • The itinerary may be subject to change based on weather, wildlife habits, etc.​
  • We strongly recommend trip cancellation and medical evacuation insurance.  
  • If the tour is forced to be postponed due to irresistible factors such as local natural disasters or disease epidemics, we can discuss changing to other itineraries where our company still has space.
  • Full payment is due 100 days prior to departure.

  • Deposit is non-refundable.
  • If cancellation is made after 100 days prior to departure, Image1 Adventure will try our best to find another participant to take your spot. If another participant is found, full refund less the deposit and $150 administration charge will be granted.
  • If Image1 Adventure cannot find another participant, no refund will be granted.
  • If you can find another participant to take your spot, the payment made is refundable or transferrable to the other participant, less $150 administration fee

Itinerary

Day 01

  • Flight arrive at Seattle
  • The expedition leader will pick you up at the airport and transfer to hotel.


Day 02

  • Fly to Anchorage
  • Sightseeing and Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center tour if time permits 
  • Enjoy dinner at a famous restaurant in downtown


Day 03

  • Depart for Prince William Sound in the morning.
  • Aboard to Charter boat for a 6 hours wildlife glacier tour. The route includes College Fjord and Blackstone Bay, a number of thousand-year-old glaciers. Along the way, you have the opportunity to see black bears, puffins, various seabirds, sea otters, seals and whales.
  • Return to Anchorage hotel for the night


Day 04

  • Morning flight from Anchorage to King Salmon
  • After placing our luggage at King Salmon, we boarded our seaplane to Brooks Falls for brown bears.
  • Since local restaurants are limited, we can do grocery shopping and make our own dinner.


Day 05 - 07

  • 3 Full-day brown bear expedition in Katmai National Park and Brooks Falls. 
  • We will decide where to land the seaplane based on the weather that day.
  • We will walk in the river, where you can take photos of brown bears up close.


Day 08

  • Anchorage ~ Seattle or Back Home
  • With a full memory of brown bears, we hope to travel with you again in the near future.

Extended activities:

A. Helicopter Knik Glacier Hiking Tour (Add 1 day to the trip)

  • $1,900 USD per person includes one extra night of accommodation and meals.
  • Single supplement:$225 USD
  • Scenic Lake George with a bird's eye view of the massive Knik Glacier below.
  • The helicopter flew over the blue glaciers and landed on the vast hills. The endless glaciers were stunning! The hiking route is very suitable for landscape photography. You can see up to three glaciers in most high mountain locations!

B. Denali Grand Flightseeing Tour (weather permits)

  • $780 USD per person
  • The plane soars over Denali Peak, exploring the Alaska Range from a high perspective, overlooking peaks over 20,000 feet, and landing on the top of the glacier. This will be a unique experience for adventurous travelers.

C. ​Add an extra day to photograph brown bears

  • $1,650 USD per person includes one additional night's accommodation and meals.
  • Single supplement:$225 USD
  • The landing location will be determined according to the weather

*If there are less than 4 people, the price will be slightly increased! A: +$200, B: +$40, C: +$150

Activity Level:​​ Active

  • Several walking time per day totally an estimated 6‐8 kilometers.
  • We will need to walk in the river, and the water is up to your waist.

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend trip cancellation and medical evacuation insurance. 

​Because many advance logistical arrangements have been made prior to the operation of these trips, we must strictly adhere to the above cancellation policy. In addition, you should be aware that some medical insurance policies do not cover your expenses, including medical evacuation while travelling in a foreign country. We will not be held responsible for missed connections, incorrect check-in times, improper documentation, and/or lost, stolen or damaged luggage. Any additional expenses caused by late or cancelled transportation carriers will be borne by the traveler. 

Clothing and carrying supplies suggestions

  • The temperature in Katmai National Park is between 15℃ and 20℃.
  • North America is located at a relatively high latitude with high ultraviolet intensity, so please carry sunscreen, moisturizing skin lotion and lip balm with you.
  • Hotels do not provide toothbrushes and toothpaste, so please remember to prepare the relevant items.
  • Clothing: Chest waders w/boots, water-proof hiking shoes,  tuque, water-proof jacket, thin down jacket, long pants, and thin gloves.
  • Mosquito repellent spray/mosquito repellent patch, topical insect repellent
  • In addition to the required changes of underwear/socks, please do not bring too many duplicate or similar outerwear.

Photography equipment recommendations

  • Camera, equivalent focal length lens of 200mm~600mm and 14-24mm , lots memory cards, and spare batteries .
  • We will be walking along the river bank and in the forest. Please try to use a small and lightweight monopod or tripod. It will be most convenient and quick if you can hand held your camera.

** Carry important photography equipment as much as possible. Remember that the carry-on luggage should not exceed seven kilograms, and tripods cannot be placed in carry-on luggage.
