Start from São Paulo, Brazil:

Guests need to arrive São Paulo on June 15th (Sunday). Non-North American travelers are advised to fly to São Paulo via Los Angeles on June 14th (Saturday) to stay overnight in Los Angeles. The tour leader can meet you up from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Itinerary

June 15

Meet up with tour leader Andy at Sao Paulo Airport .
We can schedule a half-day tour of Sao Paulo’s highlights if time permits.

June 16

In the morning, we take a flight to Alta Floresta via Cuiaba. After lunch, we drive deep into Juruena River, a large sourthern tributary of the main Amazon. Along the way, there are hundreds of species of birds and wild animals to spot, including Hoatzins, Brazilian Tapir. We can get off the car to take photos at any time. We arrive at our Amazon lodge at dusk.

June 17 - 19

After breakfast, get your camera ready and embark on a full-day adventure deep into the primeval Amazon forest .
This expedition explores wildlife in its most natural form, with the main target being the rare Harpy eagle and a very rich variety of birds.
Transportation options include boating and driving to explore the riverside forest. There are many birds, monkeys, crocodiles, capybaras, etc. You also have the opportunity to see howler monkeys and ocelots.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner before dark.

June 20

After breakfast and packing, we take a farewell boat ride among the scenic forest islands in the Juruena, then drive back to Alta Floresta.
After lunch, flight back to Cuiaba.
Dinner and overnight stay in Pantanal mid-point guest house.

June 21

After breakfast, we head to Jaguar-land and transfer to a boat ride to the floating hotel in the center of Jaguar-land . If we encounter animals along the way, surely we can get off the car and take photos at any time.
Store your luggage at the floating hotel and enjoy a hot lunch before we get on a boat for jaguars and other wild animals searching and photography until the sunset.
Dinner and overnight at the floating hotel .

June 22 - 24

Full day jaguar search and photograph.
Head out by boat after breakfast, take advantage of the morning light.
At noon, return to the hotel for lunch and a short rest.
Depart again in the afternoon until sunset.
Dinner and overnight at the floating hotel .

June 25

In the morning, we head out again to photograph Jaguars.
After lunch, we check out the floating hotel and return to the mid-point guest house for accommodation.
If the sky is clear, the Milky Way is easily visible to the naked eye.

June 26

After breakfast and sunrise, we search and photograph the Howler monkeys
Depart for Cuiaba Airport and transfer back to São Paulo.
The next connecting flight on the return journey needs to be after 8pm or the next day!

Activity Level

Easy

Most of the journey is by river boat or car.
A small amount of walking.
Stairs involved going up and down on the canopy towers.

Clothing and carrying supplies suggestions

The temperature is about 17 ℃ (early morning) ~ 30 ℃ (noon) .
Waterproof and windproof jacket, waterproof trousers, water-repellent hiking shoes , indoor slippers .
Adapter plug/ Brazil Travel Adapter (Type N)
Anti-mosquito spray/anti-mosquito patch, external mosquito repellent
Toothbrush and toothpaste
In addition to the required changes of underwear/socks, please do not bring too many duplicate or similar outerwear.

Photography equipment recommendations

Camera, equivalent focal length lens of 300mm~600mm , lots memory cards, and spare batteries .
We will be walking along the river bank and in the forest. Please try to use a small and lightweight monopod or tripod. It will be most convenient and quick if you can hand held your camera.

** Carry important photography equipment as much as possible. Remember that the carry-on luggage should not exceed seven kilograms, and tripods cannot be placed in carry-on luggage.

For single traveler, there is a single supplement fee for the accommodation. We don't put two separately booked individual travelers in the same room.

Alcohol, drinks or snacks outside meal times.
Tips for tour guide/team leader ($20~25 USD per day recommended)

Important notes :

The itinerary may be subject to change based on weather, wildlife habits, etc.
If the tour is forced to be postponed due to irresistible factors such as local natural disasters or disease epidemics, we can discuss changing to other itineraries where our company still has space.
Full payment is due 100 days prior to departure.

Cancellation policies :

Deposit is non-refundable.
If cancellation is made after 100 days prior to departure, Image1 Adventure will try our best to find another participant to take your spot. If another participant is found, full refund less the deposit and $150 administration charge will be granted.
If Image1 Adventure cannot find another participant, no refund will be granted.
If you can find another participant to take your spot, the payment made is refundable or transferrable to the other participant, less $150 administration fee.

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend trip cancellation and medical evacuation insurance.
Because many advance logistical arrangements have been made prior to the operation of these trips, we must strictly adhere to the above cancellation policy. In addition, you should be aware that some medical insurance policies do not cover your expenses, including medical evacuation while travelling in a foreign country. Insurance is 100% non-refundable. We will not be held responsible for missed connections, incorrect check-in times, improper documentation, and/or lost, stolen or damaged luggage. Any additional expenses caused by late or cancelled transportation carriers will be borne by the traveler.
